Raleigh: The Best City for Work/Life Balance

Thursday, April 4th, 2024

It comes as no surprise to us that Raleigh is one of the best American cities for professionals and ranks #1 as the best city for work/life balance in the Southeast, according to our friends at Coworking Cafe.

This isn’t the first time Raleigh has been recognized in this category either, for the second time in a row, and finishing #5 nationally in the latest 2024 showdown, Raleigh is the place to be for both professional success and personal well-being.

Here’s Why:

  • — Exceptional buying power of local wages
  • — Best median household income to cost of living ratio out to 100 cities analyzed
  • — One in five Raleigh workers enjoys remote or hybrid work arrangements
  • — Great air quality, high density of green spaces, free time amenities

Raleigh also shines as a top destination for women in tech, outperforming all the major coastal job markets (apart from Silicon Valley). The local tech workforce boasts one of the highest shares of female professionals (29%) as well a 65% health insurance coverage in this demographic. The unemployment rate among female workers was also one of the lowest in the country at less than 3%.

In addition, Durham, NC made the shortlist, for work/life balance, ranking #18 nationwide! Proving yet again why RTP has what it takes to keep you happy professionally and personally. Take a look at the Top 10 list below, and let us know if you agree with Coworking Cafe’s research.
